Peeling off the layers…

The Nadorcott has bright orange, sweet flesh with a good acid balance and depth of flavour. Early season Nadorcott can be quite tangy.  The smooth, deep orange peel has an excellent aroma and flavour. The peel fits firmly around the fruit, but is easily removed due to the tender segment. The Nadorcott is also knows as an Afourer.

Nadorcotts belong to the Mandarine Tangerine family that produces fruit later in the season than Clementines.

The Nadorcott hybrid is believed to be a nucellar seedling of W. Murcott (Nadori, 2006). The hybrid was made in a experimental station near the village of Afourer in Morocco.

The Mandarins family originated in China and made their way to Japan in the 10th century.
